I really did think that keeping it active would make our "schooling" a little better; it did. We jumped while we counted, we wiggled during the alphabet. It made the mundane exciting, and loud.
We went to the front porch, broke out the chalk and practiced writing "A's".
We practiced naming our colors by saying what colors everyone was wearing.
My 7yo followed sequences by drawing on the rocks and on the white board.
He colored a train while figuring out sequential numbers.
He reviewed counting by 2's, 5's and 10's.
He showed me that he remembers addition and subtraction with ease. Math comes as easy for him as it does my 11yo. Math never came easy for me, so this thrills me. I suspect we will have to move to the end of the mathbook and will easily move up to more difficult math concepts long before Christmas break.
Today was the 2nd day of our homeschooling year and I am extremely pleased at how well the kids are doing. I am also pleased how easy it is to review new information all day long..love that "school" isn't limited to 4 walls and a desk.
